This Privacy Policy explains how TrillED ("TrillED", "we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our website, SaaS platform, and mobile applications (collectively, the "Service").

Scope and Roles

TrillED is a school operating system used by schools and education organizations. In most cases, the school is the data controller for student, guardian, staff, and school records entered into the platform, and TrillED acts as a data processor/service provider on the school's behalf.

Information We Collect

We may collect account and profile data (for example, name, email, phone, role, organization), usage and technical data (for example, IP address, device/browser/app details, log events), and school operational data submitted by authorized users (for example, student records, attendance, assessments, fees, communications, and uploaded files).

Mobile App Permissions and Location Data

Our mobile app may request location access for transport/driver tracking workflows. Location is used only for legitimate school transport operations, such as showing active trip progress, driver route visibility, and operational safety features.

If enabled by the school and user role, location may be processed in foreground and, where required for active trip continuity, in background while a trip is running. We do not use location data for advertising.

Users can manage location permission in their device settings. Disabling location may limit transport tracking features.

How We Use Information

We use information to provide and operate the Service, authenticate users, maintain security, process transactions/subscriptions, deliver support, send service communications, improve performance and reliability, and comply with legal obligations.

Legal Bases (where applicable)

Depending on jurisdiction, we process data under one or more legal bases, including contract performance, legitimate interests, legal compliance, and consent (where required).

Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies for session management, security, preferences, and analytics. You can control cookies through your browser settings, but some features may not function properly if cookies are disabled.

Payments

Paid subscriptions and purchases are processed by third-party payment providers (for example Stripe, Paddle, or Lemon Squeezy, depending on configuration and region). We do not store full payment card details on TrillED servers. Payment data is handled directly by the selected payment provider under that provider's own privacy and compliance terms.

Data Sharing

We may share information with trusted subprocessors/service providers that help us deliver hosting, infrastructure, analytics, communications, support, and payment processing. We may also disclose information when required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, and service integrity.

International Data Transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own. Where required, we apply appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.

Retention

We retain data for as long as needed to provide the Service, meet contractual obligations with schools, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and comply with legal requirements. Schools may request export or deletion of tenant data subject to contractual and legal constraints.

Account Deletion Requests

Because TrillED is an institution-managed system, end users (for example students) do not directly delete school-controlled records from the app. Mobile users can submit an account deletion request through the app, which is routed to their school administrators for review and action under school policy.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children's Data

TrillED is used by schools and may contain student data under school authority. Schools are responsible for obtaining required notices, permissions, or consents from parents/guardians and users as required by local law.

Your Rights

Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, export, restrict, object to, or request deletion of personal information. Where TrillED acts as processor for a school, we will direct requests to the relevant school/data controller when appropriate.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates become effective when posted on this page. Continued use of the Service after updates means you acknowledge the revised policy.
